Mental Health Awareness
According to the World Health Organization, more than 1 billion people worldwide are living with mental health disorders. The Legacy Therapy Dogs are committed to helping with this crisis. The Legacy Therapy Dogs visit with many mental health chapters throughout the quad cities. This form of animal assisted therapy uses trained animals for a wide range of people to help achieve therapeutic outcomes. Interacting with therapy dogs has been shown to produce significant decreases in depression and anxiety and can also help improve communication and social behaviors. The Legacy therapy dogs are available to visit your facility, mental health chapter, and your staff and students to offer some much needed therapy dog love.

Reading Dogs
The Legacy Therapy Dogs can help students improve literacy skills and provide a non-stressful, non-judgmental environment. Afterall; Dogs Don’t judge, they just listen. Reading with a dog increases self-confidence and encourages a love of reading in specific and learning in general. The Legacy Therapy dogs are great in all learning environments! They help ease stress right before a big exam which can improve tests scores, they help give support to struggling readers and they also help children focus better. The Legacy Therapy Dogs provide a focus for conversation and encourage communication. They can help fearful children become more self assured, help children overcome speech and emotional disorders and they can help relieve stress and anxiety ~ especially with autistic children. We also work with teachers, social workers and counselors to help students deal with anger, pain and sadness
